Stuff That Helps

Fondly known as helpful stuff.  Some things can wait, some things we need to have RIGHT NOW!.  Some things are very important, some things are fun and some things are just, well, helpful.

Here's where we'll talk about just such things.  They aren't books, (well some are, just not about writing per se) they aren't software, they aren't even pens and paperclips.

Read on fellow traveler --- but before you go, did you know:

- Charles Dickens wrote his literary classic 'A Christmas Carol' in just 2 weeks.

- Samuel Johnson
wrote 'Rasselas: Prince of Abyssinia'in 4 days.

- Barbara Cartland
wrote each of her books in only 5 days.  She produced an amazing 623 best-sellers during her lifetime.

- The self-help book
'Don't Sweat the Small Stuff' a best seller in the millions was written by Dr Richard Carlson during a 12-hour
transatlantic flight.

- World's best-selling novelist,
Agatha Christie, claimed to have written all her manuscripts in under a month. In a BBC interview, she said: "I find no reason why one month isn't adequate time to write a book".

So, onward to speed writing!

Don't forget National Novel Writing Month - or NaNoWriMo

You can call it guerilla novel writing or you can call it just plain crazy, but whatever you call it, National Novel Writing Month (Or "NaNoWriMo") is an intense writing program that will get you writing that novel now!
Check out http://www.nanowrimo.org/So what is NaNoWriMo? "NaNoWriMo is all about the magical power of deadlines. Give someone a goal and a goal-minded community and miracles are bound to happen." The idea is to write a 50,000-word novel from scratch in a month's time. Because if you're limited on time, you'll focus on cranking that book out rather than on endless self-editing.

You'll also be part of a wonderful online community of fellow writers – who could ask for anything more?

Sign-ups begin October 1, and writing begins November 1.  -  This has been a yearly event.
